I really like this game....it keeps me busy.
The best!
Love this app! Real opponents, flexible settings.
The actual gameplay options and usage is great, BUT the way you pay for the game changes on different devices and different times. They seem to promote different ideas about that, and while I really like the game part of it, I hate the payment part.
For more games the app requires to buy in-app currency called beans. You can get some beans if you rate the app 5 stars. You can play +1 game for free if you click on an ad. Very shady monetization plan.
Worth the money!
It used to be the best app out there for chess, but server lag has made rapid games impossible.
I have tried to sign in and play games with a friend without any luck. I have a game name and password but no way I can understand how to be able to play. Can anybody explain how your site works ? Regards Luringen( my game name )
UPDATED REVIEW: I have to edit my review and add a star. Ive found out, by accident, that to go into the boards and pieces options you have to turn the iPad into landscape position. Indeed the collection of high resolution authentic chessmen and boards from history is amazing. There are still serious issues that seem to be easy to fix but which are ignored. Someone sent me an invite to play correspondence chess. There is a small mini board inside the message overlay of the app, but the board doesnt respond to any interactions. It is very strange how that feature isnt working. Another issue is how there is no visible option how to purchase the membership. It says my trial period expired. What trial period? And for what features? How can such a beautiful app not have easy no navigate menus and explanations. Come on guys!
I have been playing chess online for almost 20 years and this is the best chess app and service I have encountered. The community of players is huge so you can find a suitable opponent any time of day or night. Also wanted to note the great quality of graphics in iOS version, would be good to see same quality graphics in desktop version.
Got this app a few weeks ago and it was great. Being able to play chess with (real) people around the world. But the past week gameplay has become very choppy. The game will freeze, moves are delayed because of this. I dont know if an update is needed or what. The game requires coffee beans(tokens) to play a game. You can watch and click on an ad to get 8 free beans, but every time you want to play a new game it costs 16 beans, so you must sit through two ads. I understand ads pay for server upkeep and what not. But how about 1 ad for 1 game, keep it simple. 3 stars because when it functions properly it is fun playing chess with humans as opposed to the computer. Fix this bug/glitch and it would be close to a 5.
I wish this could have the analyzing feature. Been waiting hoping the updates would have the feature.
The latest version of InstantChess app requires you to click on fullscreen ads to use it. Even simply canceling a game would pop-up a video ad with a timer preventing you to close it. The much better alternative Chess.com app is ad supported as well, but theyre not intrusive and much better implemented than InstantChess, without annoying or interrupting your gameplay.
I took out a one year subscription for 80 bucks...........and Ive never subscribed to anything.........Thats how awsome this app is............At fist I would just play for free by collecting coffe beans daily.........but that was a tedious process as I would run out of beans very quickly and couldnt play anymore till 24hrs later............So one day I gave myself a Christmas present by doing the year subsciption.............Now I play UNLIMITED!..........with people from all over the world..........This is soo very cool............I have no words for it.
I have played on this app for 9 years. It continues to get better and for me a stable platform.
Great platform, which I have relied on for some time to get my chess "fix," now regularly costs me points due to game hang ups. That, coupled with marketing ploys like Google Chrome ads that never redirect, Im starting to believe I have no room for this app until I again have enough time on my hands to make use of an actual paid subscription.
Pros: easy to find real players of similar ability, intuitive UI Cons: players disconnect when they get frustrated and you have to wait the entire remainder of the clock to claim victory.
